Introducing the latest Enterprise release: Jira Service Desk Server 4.5

Enterprise releases are now called Long Term Support releases

As of June 29th, 2020, Enterprise releases are now called Long Term Support releases. The security bug fix policy for these releases was also updated - we will continue to backport critical security bug fixes and now when architecturally possible, all other security bug fixes are backported to the release for 24 months. Alyssa here from the Jira Service Desk Server team at Atlassian. I'm excited to share that our latest Enterprise release, Jira Service Desk Server 4.5, has just shipped!

Earlier this year, we promised that Jira Service Desk Server 4.5 would be an Enterprise release at launch, so we chose not to add any new features between 4.4 and 4.5, instead using the entire release cycle to focus on additional hardening and testing.

Since our last Enterprise release, we’ve made serious performance improvements and built new features so that your teams can work even more efficiently. A few highlights from performance testing include:

  • SLA recalculations happen 4x faster

  • Viewing queues is 3x faster

  • Viewing service desk issues is 2x faster

So…what’s new in the Enterprise release, Jira Service Desk 4.5?

Here are some of our favorite new features that have been rolled out between 3.16 and 4.5:

  • Lucene upgrade: Faster reindexing and smaller indexes mean a faster, more stable Jira that is easier to maintain and troubleshoot

  • Stylish customer portal experience: Bring your brand to life and improve customer experience with customizable login screens, new banner and color combos, and more accessible and responsive layouts

  • Smarter automation: Send custom payloads to third-party web services, with our new and improved automation webhooks

  • Improvements to SLA calendars: Now, it's easier than ever to find existing calendars and set up new ones while accounting for holidays, working hours, and varying time zones

  • Issue archiving (Data Center): Remove out-of-date information from Jira for easier searching and faster performance with archiving at the issue level

  • Support for CDN (Data Center): Our new Content Delivery Network (CDN) improves performance for distributed teams and remote users

  • And much more!
