Upgrade related

Nivetha Ganapathy July 14, 2020

We would like to upgrade to the latest version or at least N-1(6.6.12 to7.4.0) version.
1. What is the migration path? I.e., can we directly migrate from current version to the latest version?
2. Or do we need to plan a staggered update, where we upgrade to each version at different times to upgrade to the latest version?

3. We also use Jira and BB, can Confluence be upgraded without impacting any functionality between the three?
4. OR is there a cross-dependency that we should plan to upgrade all three at the same time? (I would like to avoid upgrading all three at once, if possible)

  1. You can't directly upgrade to Jira 7.4.0.
  2. Your upgrade path should be:
    v6.6.12 -> v.7.0.x -> v7.4.0
    Please consult the Jira 7 migration hub
  3. Whether the other Atlassian products you are using will be compatbible with Jira 7.4.0 depends on the Application Link versions in each version.
    You will find an overview on this page: Application links version matrix

Don't forget to check the Supported Platforms page for any dependencies you might need to upgrade (database, java, ...)

Please note Jira 7.4 is already end of life meaning you will not get any support from Atlassian. See Atlassian Support End of Life Policy.
