How to set a mandatory field upon closing an issue for next-gen projects?

I created a "resolution type" field in my next-gen project. I'd like to force users to fill it when resolving the issue (moving status to "Done").

For regular projects, i.e. not next-gen, I created a validator function that forced this field when transitioning to the desired state. 

Please advise how can I make the same for my next-gen project.

Currently, the next-gen project does not support the field setting required.
