Confluence Group Filters

Joe Reyna January 21, 2013

I am setting up a test confluence server in preparation for an upgrade from 3.1 to 4.3.5. I am using an atlassian-users.xml file for ldap configuration and now confluence says I have 50,000 users and groups because it's reporting all users from my ldap server. Is there a way to filter what groups are recognized? We do the same thing on our 3.1 server, but on this new 3.5 server it seems to be acting differently. Please advise me if there's a flat file I need to edit or a setting that I need to change.

Hi Joe,

You can set the user and group filter on Confluence 3.5 and above. You can either further narrow down the tree search on the Additional User DN and Additional Group DN. If you would like to even make it more narrow, you can specify the filter in both User Object Filter and Group Object Filter, under User Schema Settings and Group Schema Settings respectively. For more information regarding this, please refer to the following documentation:
* https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Connecting+to+an+LDAP+Directory
* https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DEV/How+to+write+LDAP+search+filters

Hope it helps
