restrict who can update fields

Ranking fields, (business value, Effort, Operational value) are very easy to change.  Need controls around who can update them or something to prevent accidental changes.

Agreed. I don't want anyone to accidentally add an effort score in particular. Then i would have to track down who did it and if they consulted with eng etc.

Hello!

For the moment, it is not possible to control who can edit some fields, as we very recently created new permissions for Jira Product Discovery, we haven't added too much granularity to it.

What you can control is the role of your users (members/viewers) and you can create a custom role to specify what they can edit - in your case you could remove the permission to create and edit issue, but that would apply for all fields and all views.

Could you please share with me some use cases where you'd have some users modifying some fields, but not some others?

Please note that you can also track down changes to these fields under the history tab.

Cheers,

Hermance

Is there a feature request on this? Will this be something that will be added in the future?

It would be a very valuable option top have. We have a field that we only want the 2 folks who can actually approve the roadmap idea to be able to check.
