what is the difference between jira and stash?

git is the actual version control system. But git by itself is pretty raw. So bitbucket ads a great user interface around git and also full enterprise features such as permissions/pull requests etc.. Much easier than trying to run git repositories manually yourself

FYI - Stash is now Bitbucket

Basically JIRA is an issue/task tracking system and Stash/Bitbucket is a version control system
