I think it should be easier for you to understand if you select one of the predefined reports and click edit link under one of the lines (series) narratives on your chart
In short
- Series - set of issues to be used to draw the chart line. There are few predefined sets like Resolved, Created etc. You can also select the chart line color for the series
- Label - just a label for this line on your chart to distinguish it from other lines (you may have multiple on the same chart to compare)
- JQL filter - JQL query if you want to filter your issues (let say by components). You can leave it empty if you don't need it.
