upgrade from 7.1.6 to 7.1.10

Natalie Duczman October 13, 2016

I am upgrading JIRA Software from 7.1.6 to 7.1.10 and JIRA Core from 7.1.6 to 7.2.3. I am a fairly new JIRA administrator and have never done and upgrade before. Is there anything I need to be aware of? Restricting users, backing up the database or can I just click the upgrade button?

Be careful.

  • backup database
  • backup filesystem
  • if you are running it on vmware with a local database it could be a great idea to snapshot the virtual machine, attempt the upgrade and if anything fails simply revert the snapshot OR clone the vm, boot it up the clone without network and run the upgrade locally, once it seem to work, shut down production and restart the clone as your new production server.
  • It's a fairly small step of an uppgrade but depending on how available it needs to be, this is one of those things i like to do on a saturday.
  • follow the upgrade documentation.
