start-jira.sh fails

I am using JIRA CORE trial version on my local machine. JIRA fails to start when I attempt to launch it using start-jira.sh script. Specific error:

Based on the error it looks like the port 8080 is already in use.

There are two things you can do.

  • Kill the current process where the port 8080 is currently utilizing.
  • By default Jira uses port 8080, what you can do is change it to another port it can be 8081

I would also suggest that you can put the script in the systemd or initscript so it is easy to monitor and use.
