Can I configure a secondary LDAP server (active directory) in the case the primary goes down?

Do I just enter another directory definition?

Yes, you can. Note that if the user account is found in the first directory, there is no fallback over to the 2nd directory if the user authentications fails.

That sounds fair.  When using a secondary directory server with the same users, then the only time it will use the second is when the first cannot be contacted or some other nefarious activity on the primary doesn't answer for the user.
