move custom field from Issue Details tab to Details section in (issue View screen)

We use Screens and Screen scheme to display custom fields in Issue Summary, Issue Details tabs etc. However, we would like to move certain custom fields from these tabs to the Details section.

For example, how to move the severity field from Issue Details tab to the Details section. Bonus point, can we order the Severity custom field below the Priority field in Details section.

You'll need to change core code in order to do that.  The details tab can only render system fields unless you hack custom fields into it.

There used to be a document on doing this for older JIRA systems, but I think the code has changed too much for it to be valid.
