evaluating JIRA Service Des

We are evaluating JIRA Service Desk and like the product very much HOWEVER we keep running into problems, Now it gives us a UNKNOWN FATAL ERROR at start-up. Please help as we need to get this working or go to another product which I do not particularly wish to do,

Usually means you've done something wrong when you installed it.

What does the log file say the problem is?  Look in <JIRA home>/logs and <JIRA installation>/log
