Please assist, as when users try log time they recieve a 'required custom fields' error.
We recently improved our workflow, and at certain transitions, there are mandatory custom fields that need to be populated before the status can be changed. Im assuming only the existing tasks (prior to the new workflow) are affected.
Please assist, how do we go about this?
Hi Rethabile, What you are seeing is your mandatory fields are being picked up on the work log action and the user prompted to tell them that they are required. You said that you had made the fields mandatory before a status can be changed. I assume you used validators on transitions to set the field as mandatory (and suitable screens to capture the information)? If not what approach did you take to make the fields mandatory? If you used behaviours (as described here https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/specifying-field-behavior-185729654.html) then this makes the field mandatory at all stages of the process not just in certain transitions. It is likely that all issues will be affected by this mandatory step but obviously those that have values in the fields will not generate an error. A simple workaround would be to set a value for all "old" issues for the mandatory fields.
