com.atlassian.jira.exception.DataAccessException: org.ofbiz.core.entity.GenericDataSourceException (ORA-12592: TNS:bad packet)

I upgraded JIRA from 6.1.7 to 7.0.9, and then there was an alert saying I need to do re-index as the configuration changed.

So I chose 'Lock JIRA and rebuild index' and run it, but many similar errors occurred during the reindex. A sample is as follow:

I googled and can't find any useful information to resolve this problem, could you give me any suggestion?

Thank you.

From what I can tell, this means that there is something wrong with the configuration of the network between JIRA and Oracle that is corrupting the communication between them.  There probably isn't much that JIRA can to do deal with this; it really needs reliable access to the database and generally only retries operations when there is some reason (optimistic locking and unique constraints, for example) to expect them to fail under normal conditions.

I think you will probably need to involve your network's administrator to help diagnose the problem.

Thanks Chris for your answer, I'll get someone to check database connection first.
