can't get sub-tasks to load into JIRA from CSV

Haydee Saffari-Cooper September 15, 2016

I'm trying to load a CSV file that has the sub-tasks and parent tasks properly labeled as Parent ID and Issue ID according to the JIRA online instructions.

However, once the file loads it says my subtasks don't have a valid parent ID and weren't loaded.

The mapping screen gives me the option of mapping both the Parent ID and Issue ID, but I haven't mapped them because there's no corresponding field to map them to. What am I doing wrong?

For the Parent Task column, are you using field reference offsets within the .csv file or an explicit reference to the key field? We used the Key field name (which maps to Issue Key) with both the Parent ID & Issue ID fields. So Sub-1 has a Parent ID = Parent-1 and conversely, Parent-1 has an Issue ID=Sub-1.

I've never had much success using the offsets for large numbers of issues.
