can I assign stories across projects?

I have a Product project, and I am trying to assign stories to a Sprint under a Software development project. 

I can see it in that Sprint, but if you login to the Software development project, you can't see my Story....

I also can't see stories from the Software development project that are assigned to that same sprint.

Issues don't span projects. The best you can do is create an issue in the other project and link them.

The strange thing is that I can select a sprint from that other project, but they can't see this story in their sprint.
