add story points to estimate field 2016

Scott Quiggle September 8, 2016

On an active Agile sprint board, or even in an issue that has been completed as part of a previous sprint, To clean up reports and velocity calculations for release planning under versions, I need to be able to edit the estimate field, particularly for some issues that got added to an active sprint by developers and pushed through to done with no story points associated with them. There must be a way to edit this field, even if it is a back door. I don't care about best practices right now, there's a mess that needs to be cleaned up. All the Atlassian Answers I see on the subject are 4 years old and many versions ago and don't seem relevant anymore. Please help.

You may need to add the field to the edit screen for the issue types involved.

Simple... at least the way our version of JIRA is set up, even with Admin privileges on a given project, I could not make changes to the editable fields for an issue without full JIRA Admin permissions. Once given, adding the "story point" field (NOT the estimate field) to editable fields on a issue solved my problem.
