Your issue has been created but is not currently visible

I've created a new story from the interface at the bottom of the backlog.

"your issue has been created but is not currently visible" error appears.

No quick filters are applied. Version and epic panes set to show "All issues"

I can see previously created issues, but not the ones I created today. 

Searched all available articles to no avail.

Hey Mark!

Do you have permission to edit the board in question?  If you do, when viewing the board, click on Board -> Configuration -> General.  From there, make sure that the Saved Filter and Filter Query are correct and allow that newly created "invisible" issue to be returned.
