The Schedule Issues permission is already set to the correct group, however I still can't edit the Due Date field.
Is the due date on the issues "edit" screen?
Can you try the "where's my field" helper from the "configure fields" drop-down on the edit screen?

That is not the edit screen, it's an issue display in a board. Go into the full issue view and click "edit"
