Where is the Project Import tool in JIRA Cloud? (JIRA v7.1.0-OD-02-030)

xJon Finn December 17, 2015

I want to take some projects from another JIRA system and merge them into our system, keeping the issues and projects we already have.

I have read some instructions (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver070/restoring-a-project-from-backup-749383456.html) that say I should be using the "Project Import" tool:

"To start the Project Import tool:

  1. Choose  >System
  2. Select Import & Export > Project Import to open the Project Import wizard page."

But there is no such tool there, only:

"IMPORT AND EXPORT

  • Backup manager
  • External System Import
  • JIRA Import"

Has the tool been renamed, or moved, or is this functionality no longer available?

Can I take projects from another JIRA system and import them into mine without having to wipe out my existing project?

Depending on what exactly you want to import, another option is to consider either the CSV or JSON importers for JIRA Cloud.

Hi Jon,

I'm afraid the Project Import tool is restricted to JIRA Server, the only way to export your projects to Cloud is by doing a full import of your instance.
