Using Portfolio for JIRA how can you:

John Archer February 4, 2016

1. see which resources are available on each day?

2. update user stories, tasks or subtasks to have a start and end date outside of a sprint (i.e. If Sprint 1 is between 01-Feb and 14-Feb, how can I have Task1 be between 02-Feb and 05-Feb?)

3. allocate user stories, tasks and subtasks to multiple resources and have that update the Portfolio Plan view?

Hi John,

ActivityTimeline add-on addresses all three needs you described above.

  1. Workload indicator shows how many hours of scheduled work is put on each resource per each day/week. It is based on the remaining time estimate field.
  2. User stories, tasks, sub-tasks and other issue types are not bound to sprints. The planning is made on an infinite timeline not bound to sprints.
  3. Split the same user story/task/sub-task/etc. across multiple resources (drag'n'drop with a Shift key hold).

P.S. Sorry if it sounds a bit off topic but that directly relates to the problems described in a question.
