You can check the What's New page at

https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/what-s-new-686863216.html

this shows that for cloud JIRA is now beyond 7.2.0-OD-03 whilst at the moment JIRA for server is still at 7.1.1.

You will need to wait until both server and cloud are on the same build number in order to complete the migration easily.

You will also see from this page that there are releases every few weeks for JIRA.

Very poor.

They do not need to be on exactly the same build number.

Cloud gets releases before Server does, but we generally ensure that the export works anyway, so long as you use the most recent release of Server.

Since 7.1.1 is the most recent JIRA Server release, it should be able to import the data from 7.2.0-OD-03.  You will not need to wait for JIRA Server 7.2 to be released.  This not working is a bug.

Full details on the requirements, including what I have said above, are available here:

You should always be able to export from Cloud and import into the most recent version of Server.  If you can't, then somebody made a mistake.  Either they did not add the needed downgrade support to Server or due to unfortunate timing or a pulled release that downgrade ability hasn't been made available at the expected time.

Please open a support request for this.

Hmm this still doesn't work though. It seems the Cloud version is on 7.2 whereas the server version is only on 7.1.4 which may be causing the proble.

It is normal for the JIRA Server version to be less than the JIRA Cloud version.

We document the procedure here.  As long as you are on the very latest version of JIRA Server, this should work.  If it does not, then open a support request.
