Teams in JIRA Portfolio - How to Display that information in JIRA

Dante De Vellis July 29, 2016

We are working in Portfolio and doing some planning / estimation on Epics.  We are have also entered some teams in JIRA Portfolio and have been detailing what teams will work on which Epics.

That is working great.  The problem is we haven't figured out a way to display that Team information back in JIRA.  So if a user is part of Team A, is there a way in JIRA that a user can query all the Epics they are working on?  We do have a custom field that we can use, but ideally we don't duplicate the data and the information carries over directly from Portfolio once it is set.  So whether there is a default field we can leverage and/or there is a way to populate a custom field based on what was set in Portfolio - either of those would be great.

I think for now we will just keep them separate and not dive into the Team level in Portfolio as I can't find a way to manage this currently. So we will still do our high level Story Points estimates at the Epic level in Portfolio, but not yet assign to a one or more teams.  It's not ideal, but better than duplicating effort.  And then if/when this functionality becomes available in portfolio we can expand the use of Teams and sync that information back to JIRA.

If anybody out there has figured this out, please let us know.  It would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Dante.

We are struggling with the same issue.  We have multiple teams pulling stories from the same epic so we end up seeing other teams' boards in the Agile board view.  This throws off velocity calculations and is annoying.  We want to change the board filter to look at a team attribute on stories to avoid this.  We've created a custom "Team" attribute but that cannot be connected to the notion of teams in Portfolio.  Please help!
