Send release notes after version released

Maciej Olszewski February 18, 2016

Hello I have a problem with this request

"For our project, we would like to start tracking issues by the version in which they have been released, and also to let our PO know that the version has been released.

That's why, we'd like to configure the project so, that it sends out an e-mail every time we release a version."

I can't find anything about this

Thanks in advance

JIRA does not have a native feature to send some of "Release Notes" to certain recipients. It does have a "Release Notes" page (Project Overview > Versions , select a version > Release Notes) but it's just basically a html/text formatted page of issues with their description that is meant to be manually copy/pasted to somewhere else. That's the closest thing you can get natively.

Several workarounds that you can check

  • JIRA Subscriptions can help you automate sending an email whenever a certain JQL is achieved
  • Create your own script/code/app that can query JIRA and do the release notes for you.
