Put custom field values in JIRA Automation "Send Email" action?

Evan Winter June 27, 2017

Edit: I read this thread but none of these solutions worked for me.

I've created a rule in Automation that sends a unique email notification if an Issue is created of a certain Issue Type.

I'd like to inject several custom field values into that email.

Is that still possible? I know some things have changed with the plug-in so I don't know what information I've seen online is still accurate. I can't find an "Allow variable expansion" option, as I've seen many say you must turn on.

My understanding is that the older Automation plug-in used Velocity templates, and the newer one from CodeBarrel uses Mustache. I wasn't sure which plug-in I had (it's the one that came with JIRA Server as of about six months ago), so I tried both syntaxes.

send-email-automation.PNGNeither of those worked. The email I recieved just contained those statements as they are shown above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

I read this blog post and now understand much better. I'm using JIRA Automation, not Automation for JIRA.
