Put Epic Link in progress automatically

JM June 13, 2016

Hello,

There is any way to change the status of Epic Link to 'In Progress' automatically if any issue in the epic goes to 'In Progress'?

Thanks in advance

Regards

With the Misc. Worflow Extensions plugin, this is easy. Assuming you use the Server installation and not Cloud:

  1. In the workflow used by the issues linked to the Epic, add a "transition linked issues" post-function. Select the Has Epic link.
  2. Set the name or id of the transition in the Epic workflow that leads to In Progress. It would be a good idea to use a global transition for that one.
  3. (optional) Add a workflow condition to the Epic transition to hide it from users.

That's it. Takes about 5 minutes to set up, no code or script required.

Currently I'm using JIRA Server on-premise with scriptrunner.

Can you let us know if you're on JIRA Cloud or if you're on a self-hosted JIRA installation?

Can you also let us know if you have a scripting add-on like like ScriptRunner or a customization add-on like Misc Workflow Extensions?
