JIRA Active Directory - filter groups with no members

Darren Hartford March 10, 2017

Is there a way to filter AD groups that have no members?

Attempting to use the Group Object Filter: (&(objectCategory=Group)(!(member=*)))   only ends in errors and tears, and still have groups with zero members cluttering JIRA.

Hi Darren,

I don't know if that is possible but I'm fairly certain you should not use wildcards. Since AD is what you want to synchronize why don't address the problem there?

Else include the groups you want by different means or exclude the ones you don't want. Personally I would not see any reason to keep empty groups in the AD.

In this scenario, the JIRA admin does not have control over the active directory – but still wants to be a good JIRA admin smile.
