I want to use a post function to send email notifications, but I want the email to contain all the ticket information. Is this possible?

I found this in the documentation:

Adding a custom event

  1. Log in as a user with the JIRA Administratorsglobal permission.
  2. Choose > System. Select Advanced > Events to open the View Events page.
  3. In the Add New Event form at the bottom of the page, add a name and description for the custom event.
  4. In the Template field, select the default email template to be associated with the event.
  5. Click the Add button.

It says to use the Generic Event as the default template - If I use the Issue Created template would that trigger an email with all the screen info? (We do not have a test environment in which I can try this without worry)
