I am trying to write a script that involves fetching the ticket ID by passing the description to the Jira API. It works well in all cases except for when the description has a question mark in it within single quotes.
Ex: in my ruby script, the jql used is:
"jql" => "project = ABC AND labels in ('abcd') AND description ~ \"#{message}\""
and here message is a variable holding the description content which has 'abc?'. (including single quotes)
Can anyone help me how to handle this case?
I don't think you can do this. The question mark is a wildcard in most places, and Jira sees it the same way. The REST interface and the GUI don't see it in other ways even if you escape it.
