How to link Jira issues by dependency type: FF, FS, SF, SS

ALittleDiff July 7, 2016

I have 2 Jira issues(as tasks), Pre-task and Post-taskPost-task can be started after Pre-task is finished, which may be expressed like this:

  • Pre-task [FS] Post-task

In this case, how can I set the link type of these tasks,

Pre-task FS-depends on Post-task, or,

Post-task FS-depends on Pre-task ?

  • My Jira version: JIRA v7.1.1

'FS-depends on' link types are installed with this plug-in:

As an admin, you can create issue link types to represent this linkage from the admin interface.  Once you've created them, then you can use "link issue" from the options menu on an issue to add them to issues.

My administrator said he had not added 'FS-depends on' link type by himself manually, instead 'Gantt Chart' plug-in seemed to do.

So, I may need to know the intention of the plug-in developer. yellow-star

So they added them via an add-on, that's fine.

I'd suggest having a look at the docs for the gantt chart (but to add the links to an issue, try "add link" from the menu!)
