How to change the table collation value in a existing JIRA database

Vinod Honnalli August 8, 2016

Hi,

Currently we are using the SQL server 2012 database for our JIRA, we recently upgraded the JIRA version to 6.4.5 from 6.3.11.

After upgrading we are receiving an error "The table collation: 'SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS' is unsupported by JIRA. The Database collation: 'SQL_Latin1_General_CP437_CI_AI' is supported by JIRA."

We gone through the Atlassian documentation where it suggested to create a new database with correct collation.

But, we do not want to create an database and migrate the data from old database to new database, as it is risky.

Could you please let us know the ways to update the table collation value from the database.

Please let us know the SQL query to do so.

Let me know if you need any information from my end. Thank you.
