How to avoid fields not in edit screen ("readonly fields") from being modifiable in bulk edit?

I followed the instructions in the top answer in https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/226463. This works, but as someone commented, is not a complete solution, since the field can still be modified in bulk edit.

What is the full solution?
