How does upgrading from JIRA Server 6.2 to JIRA Software 7 affect customizations?

Andy Keyworth November 11, 2015

We're currently running JIRA Server 6.2. We mostly just want to have Agile available for a new project, but that means we have to upgrade to JIRA Software 7, from what I see.

Therefore, how does upgrading from JIRA Server 6.2 to JIRA Software 7 affect customizations in projects and TEMPO timesheets? Also, how will it affect our Add-ons?

Hi Andy,

You can find some good documentation here regarding difference between JIRA 6 / 7: https://confluence.atlassian.com/migration/jira-7

As for add-ons, I would suggest looking them up in the Marketplace to ensure they are supported by JIRA 7.

We use Tempo and are on JIRA 7, so no issues there.

Side note: If you have any projects that don't require Kanban / Scrum boards, these projects can become Business projects (requires JIRA Core licence for those users). This means you can reduce the number of 'agile' users and save money by getting some Core and some Software licences.

Thanks,

Jared.
