How do I prompt a user to assign a issue/ task when they transition the issue/ task

I apologize if this is a simple task, but how do i setup a transition between two issues/ tasks so that the user who transitions the task has to assign it to a new person?

I.e I transition it from WIP - Finance > WIP - Asset Manager, I would like it to prompt me asking me which asset manager I would like to assign it to. I assume this is possible.

Hi Brendan,

The basic way of doing this:

• Create a new screen which includes the assignee field.
• Map the screen to the transition you want. See: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver071/working-in-text-mode-802592785.html (scroll to the bottom on the page to the "Using a screen with a transition" section)
• Add a "Field Required" or "Field has been modified" validator to the transition to make sure assignee is picked/changed by the user.

Hi Sam, thanks for taking the time to help out. This is perfect, I hadn't thought of using a validator to confirm that the change had been made either so that is definitely a good tip!
