Where should JIRA Service Desk be installed?
[/opt/atlassian/jira]

I already have a JIRA installation, in /opt/atlassian/jira.

  • Is this considered an upgrade to a non-service desk jira?
  • Will installing to jira's current directory blow it (my existing Jira)  away or should I use /opt/atlassian/servicedesk?

Jason,

JSD can be installed as a standalone JIRA application. It can be separate from your existing JIRA if it is already installed on the server. If you want to install JSD on the same JIRA instance then you can download the JIRA Service Desk OBR file and install it as an application within your existing JIRA installation.

Thank you. Why is this not in the Plugins when I searched for it?

It's not an add-on, it's an application.

You could, and should, install it via JIRA -> Admin -> Manage applications
