How can we add a user to all the projects in a project category?

We have more than 150 projects in a project category.

So how can we assign a user to the project category so that he can access whole projects in that category.

Unfortunately currently project categories can only be used in JQL. Atlassian have a Suggestion issue that would enable assigning schemes to project categories, but it is just a suggestion for now. See the link for more details. In theory you could write an sql script, that could do the job, but I doubt that it would be worth the effort.

Use "JIRA User Groups". So if you have "Category A", create a group named "category_a" and just use that for user access or whatever you like.
