How can I track developer hours per project?

RJA October 5, 2016

Is there a way to log hours to a project without a ticket, similar to RedMine? When you log hours in Redmine, the "Issue" box is optional. (see screenshot)

Additionally, I need to be able to generate a report of hours per user per project, including tickets assigned to that project.

How can I do this in JIRA? (with or without addons)

Hi Joseph,

No, in JIRA you always log hours on an issue. A common approach to allow people to log their work of a "more general nature" is creating an issue specifically for more generic work and having people book on that issue.

Then, of course, if you want to get an overview of logged work across projects, Tempo Timesheets will give you all (and probably even much more) than you need for that purpose.
