How can I merge duplicate incoming emails into a single issue?

Our application emails issues / application errors into Jira.  Is there a way to get it to auto merge emails that are the same (by subject) into a single issue?

In JIRA you can't. But you can try to use something like the JIRA Enterprise Mail Handler Add-On (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.javahollic.jira.jemh-ui).
