I am getting this exception when i try to restclient.getSearchClient().searchJql(); 

I am using Keep Alive request for restclient using custom Authentication.

This means that your request has timed out. This problem is related to your network infrastructure and how you have initialized the REST client. Another possibility could be that JIRA does not return the query results before the socket timeout is reached.

Are you behind a proxy or a firewall? Can you post the rest client initialization code?

I would try the REST API call through another REST client first.
