Epic link on a story

Trevlen Bahadur February 25, 2016

Hi,

Is it possible to view which epic a story belongs to by only viewing the story on JIRA v7.0.9.

In the previous version there was a link on the bottom right hand side corner which, when clicked on, will open the epic.

In the newer version the link is not there.

Is this link displayed because for permissions or is this feature no longer there?

Thanks

I can tell you that on JIRA Software v7.0.10 with JIRA Core 7.0.0, as long as the Epic Link field is filled out for that Story (check your screens to ensure a user can set the Epic Link from Stories), then the Epic Link will show up near the top left on the Issue's main details page of that Story.  The Epic Name will be shown next to this Epic Link label and will likely be highlighted by a various color. Clicking this Epic Name will take you to that Epic issue.

If you're referring to the Issue Details View on a Board where you click a Story row and the subset of issue details show up on the right side of the table, you can configure that (if you have Board administrator permissions) to show the Epic Link.   These are the configuration steps for that specific view: https://confluence.atlassian.com/agile/jira-agile-user-s-guide/configuring-a-board/configuring-the-issue-detail-view
