Epic labels not copid to related tasks

Dion Jones March 6, 2017

I'm trying to set up an automation that takes the labels from one project that contains our epics and creates all those same labels on all of the issues linked in that epic - no matter what project they are in.

Automation is saying that it cannot find any linked issues and therefore does not update anything.

Is this because the epic and linked issues are in different projects?

Hi Dion,

Thanks for using Automation for JIRA. You can definitely do this using a "Global rule". To do this, you need to be a global administrator and create the rule (or edit it) from the global admin page. There is a link in the top right of the project page to get here. In Global Admin, simply open the rule you already have and on the details page edit the project to be "Global". This will also affect the Trigger for the rule so you may need to add a condition to only run the rule for that original project.

When rules are created for a project, all actions only affect rules with in that project. This is done to prevent permission escalation for Project Admins.
