Ensure custom field is set before transitioning

Currently we have a transition that goes from "IN WORK" --> "CLOSED". Our users click the "Send to Close"  button which then brings up a final screen to input additional information. Two field are supposed to be changed to  "Discrepancies = Closed" and "Open items = closed". Our users can currently click submit with these items open and this moves the issue to "Closed" on the workflow. Is there a way to implement a Validator of sorts that will not allow the transition until both of these 2 fields are changed to "Closed"? We want the users to be forced to change these items in the actual "Move to Close" screen. Thank you.

Yes you can. There are a couple of add-ons that will allow you to add Validators to check if a certain field has either:

• Been changed
• Equals to something

...during a transition. Try searching the Atlassian Marketplace and see on what suit your needs. Start with JIRA Suite Utitliies, JIRA Misc Workflow Extension and/or JIRA ScriptRunner.
