Create a report with data in excess of 12 months

Hi, how do I create a report that contains data more than 12 months old? Currently I can only report on data for the past 12 months but I need to report on the last 18 months minimum

What type of report do you want to use? 

Where does the data reside? In a particular field?

If I try and create a report on opened cases for example, using custom dates I can only report a maximum of 12 months back which takes me to Nov 2017. What I need to do is report back from May / June 2017

Why not use a chart gadget with a JQL query such as:

created >= -457d
