Copy Jira and Confluence with Application Links to Test Environment

Christian Hofbauer December 16, 2015

Hi all,

We have a PROD Jira (6.4.5) and a PROD Confluence (5.7.5). The two servers are connected via Application Link, and our users use the JIRA Macros (Issue List and so on).

Now we have to set up a test environment.

Is this possible because when we startup the test environment with the prod exports, they are linked to the Prod environments and we cannot change it because we do not get the relocate link..

Anyone an idea?

Best Regards!

Christian

Delete the Application Links and recreate them.

The JIRA Issues Macros have all the data within the page (in confluence). The JIRA Issue Links saves the page meta data within the issue (in JIRA). Thus, you can delete the Application Links at will and recreate them, assuming the connection is valid your data will be reconnected.

You can verify this information yourself with the Applinks documentation, located at confluence.atlassian.com/display/APPLINKS/. Specifically under #1 within Troubleshooting –

1. Have you recently moved or changed anything in your environment?

If you've changed your environment, such as reverse proxies, physical servers or even URLs, it's best to recreate the link just in case. Recreating an application link doesn't remove any data. Existing macros, plugins and pages that make use of an application link will start working again once the application link has been recreated.

Note however that recreating the link will force all of your users to log in again.
