If You have enabled daily backups.
You can move them to another location (Storage) , this can reduce maximum memory allocation.

We actually do weekly backups of the entire VM.

If you're taking backups another way, then you don't need those exports at all. Consider turning them off in the general admin so it stops creating them.
If you rely on them as the backup, then you probably only want to keep the latest one.
