Can Jira Datacenter run in a mixed Windows and Linux environment?

Is there any reason it wouldn't work to have some nodes be Linux and some Windows in a JIRA Datacenter cluster?

I don't think we're aware of any specific issues with this, but we don't put much (if any?) test effort into that configuration, and it is not recommended that you use nodes with significantly different performance characteristics, which Windows and Linux invariably do have.

Quoting from the Installing JIRA Data Center guide:

  • Normal JIRA supported platforms and requirements apply to each node.
  • Each node does not need to be identical, but for consistent performance, we recommend they are as close as possible.
