Can I set a custom field value when an issue is created from an email?

I have a custom field (required). I want users to be forced to set a value when they create issues in Jira, but I want to set a default value when issues are created from emails. Is there a standard way to achieve this?

 

I have managed to do it with a Jython script, but I would prefer a standard configuration.

It is very easy when you use Email this issue plugin.
