Backup var and opt folders through services

Wondering if there was a way to put in a rsync statement into services or call a file of these rsync statements via the services tab in JIRA SD?  I prefer to manage this way vs. crontab.

you need to setup a REST API that manage folders. This is something that is out from JIRA perspective.
