Automatically close alerts when corresponding resolved alert is received

We have alerts that come in from our monitoring system via email from Zabbix that populate into Jira.  There is a unique event ID from Zabbix that is currently in the body of the alert description field but could also be moved into the Summary field if required.  We then get resolved alerts that match the same event ID (In the description filed) for the orignal issue but the 2 alerts still remain open.  Is there away of matching these up to then get Jira to resolve / close the orignal alert either by a workflow / plugin?
