My users and myself from different locations have this issue now when uploading attachments. It looks like the cloud server is down to me...

An error occured while attaching Capture.JPG: com.atlassian.jira.issue.attachment.store.media.MediaApiStreamAttachmentStore$FailureMediaApiResponseException: [AttachmentUploadFailure] Could not upload temporary attachment Failure: Failure{cause=java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out, reason=TRANSPORT_ERROR, message='null', httpStatusCode=null}

Maybe it was caused by this incident:

This just started happening to me in JIRA Cloud, though the error is slightly different:

An error occured while attaching image001_1.png: com.atlassian.jira.issue.attachment.store.media.MediaApiStreamAttachmentStore$FailureMediaApiResponseException: [AttachmentUploadFailure] Could not upload temporary attachment Failure: Failure{cause=null, reason=BAD_STATUS, message='', httpStatusCode=500}

We are getting the same error here on our instance of JIRA as well - multiple users:

An error occured while attaching CEG Business Case Template._QPAX_Manila_BOT_06JUL16xlsx.xlsx: com.atlassian.jira.issue.attachment.store.media.MediaApiStreamAttachmentStore$FailureMediaApiResponseException: [AttachmentUploadFailure] Could not upload temporary attachment Failure: Failure{cause=null, reason=BAD_STATUS, message='', httpStatusCode=500}

Yeah same over here. Guess we wait until they fix it.

Investigating - We are experiencing issues related to attachment uploads at the moment. During this time, all attempts to upload attachments to either JIRA or Confluence Cloud will fail with a Media API error. We are currently investigating the issue, and will provide regular updates via this status page.

@Daniel Brown, do you have an estimation when this issue will be solved. We are also suffering from this error. An approximate ETA will be very helpful. Thanks!

Yeah I figured it was an interruption to the service but couldn't find any reported information about the error. Hopefully this Question and answer will provide information for other users that are searching if the issue occurs again.

Since the URL will likely disappear....
